NON-SPONSORED PROGRAMS

UNLV continues to develop a wide variety of study abroad programs which are designed to provide opportunities to participate in international study while remaining enrolled at UNLV.  Students who choose to participate in study abroad programs which are not sponsored by UNLV should consider the following suggestions:

1. Determine which institution will issue transcripts for the program you have selected.

2. Meet with the appropriate evaluators to confirm that all credits in your chosen program are transferable to UNLV.

            Undergraduate students:  Office of Admissions

            Graduate Students:            Graduate College

3. Obtain outlines of program courses and requirements.

4. Meet with your advisor to review course and program selection.

5. Financial aid recipients should contact their financial aid advisors to complete either a “consortial agreement” or to discuss receipt of their award through other means.

6. Obtain a copy of the “Foreign Travel Suggestions” handout from UNLV International Programs and review it carefully. You can access the UNLV International Programs Study Abroad Handbook from UNLV International Programs

7. All students should consult their physicians regarding personal health issues before traveling abroad.  International medical insurance is strongly advised.

8. Contact the U.S. State Department regarding information on safety and travel to your selected location.

9. Contact the Center for Disease Control (CDC) regarding information on health issues specific to your specific location.

10. Contact the Embassy or Consulate of each country you plan to visit for visa and travel information.
