Faculty Resources

The Office of International Programs is committed to working with faculty and staff to further internationalize UNLV. Teaching, research, study, and travel abroad opportunities are available to UNLV faculty and staff.

The Office of International Programs has a variety of resources and programs for faculty. Faculty International Development Awards (FIDA) give faculty the opportunity to study along side students as part of our various language programs. Faculty can also apply to teach classes abroad as part of our USAC programs. Faculty can currently apply for opporunities in Chile, China, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and Spain.

The Office of International Programs is responsible for the development and administration of study abroad programs for students, general agreements for international cooperation, international faculty exchange, the National Student Exchange, U.S. Student Fulbright Program, and serves as the support office for the Peace Corps through a grant from the U.S. Department of State.

The Office of International Programs administers a wide range of projects and provides support for faculty and staff who are interested in international teaching and research. International activitie which include students aer subject to a wide range of UNLV and NSHE policies which have been developed to assure academic quality, compliance with heathl and safety standards, State Department recommendations, and other administrative regulations. All new international projects and programs for students are developed based on long term strategic planning and are subject to the administrative approval processes of UNLV and NSHE.

Programs for students are offered in Australia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Thailand.

Current Events

Teaching Abroad: Visiting Professor Applications will be due in February, 2009 for Summer 2010, Fall 2010 and Spring 2011.

-Jean Henry will be teaching in Chengdu, China during the Summer 2008.

-William Jankowiak will be teaching in Chengdu, China during the Spring semester, 2009.

-John Naccarato will be teaching in Turin, Italy during the Fall semester, 2008.

-Daniel Thompson will be teaching in the Heredia, Costa Rica program during the Summer 2008.

-Janet White will be teaching in the Viterbo, Italy program during the Summer 2008.

-Tom Wright will be teaching in the Puebla, Mexico program during the Summer 2008.
